Youi logo

Youi’s marketing team needed display ads for several parts of the business at once, from car and home insurance through to sponsorships, without briefing a designer for every resize. It was a good problem for someone who likes building systems.

The brief: create a set of digital display templates covering Youi’s full range of sizes and product lines, along with co-branded creative for its Brisbane Lions sponsorship.

My approach: I designed the templates in Figma as components with set zones for headline, offer, imagery and logo lockups, so copy and images could change without breaking the layout. For the Lions work, I balanced Youi’s identity with the club’s maroon, gold and blue so the creative read as a partnership, with neither brand sitting awkwardly on top of the other.

The result: a template library the team used to roll out consistent web assets across the business, and co-branded creative that ran through the Lions season. The templates also became the starting point for my later automation work for Youi.

Looking back

A good template is a design decision, not just a production shortcut.

The impact: The template library let Youi’s team produce on-brand display ads for every product line without briefing a designer for each resize, and gave the Brisbane Lions sponsorship a consistent look across the season.

What I took from it: The real work in a template is deciding what can flex and what has to stay fixed. Getting that right is what made the automation work I later led for Youi possible.
